Academic Medicine Ranks CWRU School of Medicine Among Top 15 for Research in the Nation

Academic Medicine published a study ranking research medical schools and placed CWRU at 15th in the country. The  list is composed of objective, verifiable and publicly available data to measure the achievements of our students after they graduate. The authors argue that a research medical school's value is assessed, at least in part, by its graduates' ability to contribute new knowledge to biomedicine, translate that learning to patients, and serve as leaders in academic and clinical areas.

The Academic Medicine study represents a comprehensive look at educational quality. It tallied student papers published, the quality of journals in which they appear, grants earned from the NIH and others, and leadership of clinical trials. Also taken into account are the honors graduates have received, including such recognition as membership in the National Academies of Science, Howard Hughes Investigators, and fellowship in specialty organizations.
