Members of the Division of Hematology and Oncology provide clinical care to patients with benign and malignant hematologic conditions, and solid tumors. The Division provides inpatient and outpatient consultation, as well as longitudinal management. Clinical sites include University Hospitals Case Medical Center (UHCMC)(Main Campus, Chagrin Highlands, Westlake, Landerbrook), the Louis Stokes Veterans Administration Hospital, and 7 regional sites throughout northeast Ohio. In 2009, approximately 6500 new cancer patients were evaluated by UHCMC physicians. A dedicated bone marrow transplant unit on the main campus conducts autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplants. Clinical research protocols are available at all clinical care sites.

Clinical care is coordinated with the Seidman Cancer Center, and is provided by Multidisciplinary Disease Teams. The Disease Teams meet regularly to develop clinical care pathways, clinical research programs, educational programs, and quality initiatives. In addition, weekly Tumor Boards provide a formal multidisciplinary forum for case presentation, discussion, and clinical decision making. The Disease Teams are supported by dedicated patient care and database coordinators. Disease Teams and the Hematology and Oncology Division leads are shown below.
