General Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship :: Application

The University Hospitals Case Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University Cardiovascular Medicine fellowship participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Typically five first-year positions available.

The application process for the three-year Cardiovascular Medicine (General Cardiology) fellowship training program can be initiated by using the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) beginning November 15, 2010. For fellowships beginning July 1, 2012, you must submit your complete ERAS application (see below) by January 15, 2011.

All applications must include:

  • ERAS Common Application Form (CAF)
  • Medical School Transcript
  • Medical School Dean’s Letter
  • Two letters of recommendation; and
  • One letter from your Residency Program Director in Internal Medicine
  • USMLE Steps 1 & 2 Transcripts and if applicable, ECFMG Status Report
  • Please submit the ERAS application by January 15, 2011.


For International Medical Graduates (IMG), completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Training Program and ABIM board-eligibility in Internal Medicine is required for ABIM board-eligibility and certification in Cardiovascular Medicine.

In February, selected applicants will be invited for interviews. Interview days are generally on Thursdays in March. During the interview visit, the applicant will meet with several faculty members as well the current fellows. All efforts will be made to accommodate the applicant's areas of interest or future goals for their fellowship training.
